A mathematical model for intermittency

چکیده

2014 The possibility that a perfect fluid might carry a random velocity field concentrated on a surface, with a finite kinetic energy, is considered. This leads mathematically to a velocity behaving as the square root of a delta function. Despite their exotic character, such mathematical objects make sense when inserted into the Euler equation. However, it is found that such surfaces are unstable. Their replacement by a fractal with dimension larger than two could make sense however, as was proposed by B. Mandelbrot. J. Performance analysis of wireless sensor networks using queuing networks

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are autonomous wireless systems consists of a variety of collaborative sensor nodes forming a self-configuring network with or without any pre-defined infrastructure. The common challenges of a WSN are network connectivity, node mobility, energy consumption, data computation and aggregation at sensor nodes. In this paper we focus on intermittency in network conne...

Characteristic Oscillation and Intermittency in TCP-RED Gateway

It has been found that a bottleneck RED gateway can become oscillatory when regulating a number of TCP flows. We develop a dynamic model to qualitatively describe the characteristic frequency and intermittency of the oscillation in the RED gateway. The results have been verified with the ns simulator.

A Mthod for Generating the Turbulent Intermittency Function

A detection method based on sensitization of a squared double differentiated signal is developed which discriminates the turbulent zones from laminar zones quite accurately. The procedure adopts a variable threshold and a variable hold time of the order of the Kolmogorov time scale. The output file so generated, includes all the information for further analysis of the turbulent signal.

Scaling of space–time modes with Reynolds number in two-dimensional turbulence

It has been estimated that the number of spatial modes (or nodal values) required to uniquely determine a two-dimensional turbulent flow at a specific time is finite, and is bounded by Re for forced turbulence and Re for decaying turbulence. The usual computational estimate of the number of space–time modes required to calculated decaying two-dimensional turbulence is N ∼ Re. These bounds negle...

Intermittency, nonlinear dynamics and dissipation in the solar wind and astrophysical plasmas.

An overview is given of important properties of spatial and temporal intermittency, including evidence of its appearance in fluids, magnetofluids and plasmas, and its implications for understanding of heliospheric plasmas. Spatial intermittency is generally associated with formation of sharp gradients and coherent structures. The basic physics of structure generation is ideal, but when dissipat...
